Just heads up. I never recieved my shortage letter but was able to contact Corp Burns at MSP. He told me that they wanted a letter from the bank simply stating I have active and open business accounts and active cash flow. I had my bank put a pre typed letter (that I did) on bank letter head and they signed it. Sent it in. Spoke to Corp Knaub today and he said that I should be receiving my permit early next week. Since I did not get my letter in the mail I am wondering if I will actually get the permit?

They did not ask for amounts of cashflow, just active cashflow.

    Just FYI
Can you post the letter you wrote and had your bank sign? (Remove your personal info. of course). My bank has a form letter that just shows account open date and average monthly balance. Does not state anything about cash flow.

Corporal Burns just replied to my request for an update on mine. Applied 5/2/13. He said my application had just come back in their office from my records check which was completed and was in the final stages of the review process and should be processed within the next few weeks. Sounds promising. I wouldn't think they would go through all that just to deny but, this is The People's Republic of Maryland so I won't get my hopes up just yet. Fingers and toes crossed. Sad isn't it that we have to go through all this just to exercise our 2A rights? When I lived in PA it was SO EASY. What was I thinking moving back here?:sad20:

It was very basic (I am on vacation)

It stated : This letter is to confirm that company name has several active business accounts with active cashflow.

    Thank you

    Bank manager

Do not put amounts on it. That would only give an oppertunity to deny.

Update: Got my phone call today regarding why I wanted to have a handgun permit.

My G&S I am a business owner that owns a payroll company and transports signed payroll checks to various parts of Maryland. I also make bank deposits weekly ranging from $300 to $1000. I also carry large balance credit cards in which I purchase computers and office items.

Asked a couple things thought were odd:

    1) Do I have any safety courses - I have the normal MD Safety Course as well as hunting safety course. I should have mentioned I am getting my RSO next month but forgot that.

    2) Asked if I drank alcohol. That was the question, not are you a habitual drinker, etc. I said sparingly.

He said that after he is done his paperwork it goes to the Police HQ review where there are two guys processing paperwork that will say either yes or no. He said that there was nothing else I needed to do.

He said that they are currently processing early April paperwork now.

Will be calling my wife and references then sending it up.

    Name was Sgt. Martin
I sent an email and received a reply stating they have 90 business days to make a decision.

They received my application on May 31, 2013 and I received my permit 2 weeks ago.

What is the usual total time it takes once paperwork is submitted?

Are there any counties that are either not following the court ruling or being purposely difficult?

Once the permit is received, how long is it good for?

    And....

What is the reciprocity policy? (I assume all Maryland residents must have a Maryland permit, but does Virginia and other states recognize our permits?)

I realize these questions are probably answered somewhere in all the previous messages; I also know that things change.

Would it be legal to post an image of a permit here? I'm thinking about applying for a permit, but the reciprocity thing is a big issue with me. If Virginia (God bless the commonwealth!) and Pennsylvania don't recognize it, I won't bother.

    Thanks!

Question, I am an avid poker player and often frequent the casino a few times a week with large amounts of cash in excess of $1000. I was wondering if this is a valid reason to apply for a permit (i dont want to waste an application fee if they will not consider it). Once the casino opens in baltimore city next summer I will be there every couple of days playing poker at night and would like a carry permit as I will be traveling with large amounts of money in the city. Thoughts?

Nope! Not a valid reason, ESPECIALLY GAMBLING!!!!!

It is a looong tale of rage and despair for any typical civilian.

Maybe you should read a good book instead...

Received mine in the mail today. Applied 5/1. Mine has the exact same restrictions as yours. Guess it's better than nothing. I just don't understand how states can limit a constitutional right that specifically says "shall not be infringed". I wish we had the power to interpret laws and rules the way we liked or always in our favor. "We the people" have definitely given up too much power to our so called representatives and unfortunately way too many of us have been and still are asleep at the wheel. I feel sorry for my children and my granddaughter because it will only most surely get worse. I can't wait to retire and get the hell out of this liberal pit they call Maryland.:sad20:

Well, can you couch it as your job? :)

I just took a MD carry permit class Cypherpunk on this forum. He went over the whole process. I took it looking for ways to reduce my restrictions and for info on renewal. I wish he was giving this before I applied. If you are considering getting a permit, I would recommend contacting him and taking this class. It was very helpful.

I'm thinking of applying for the maryland permit. My reason is I drop 8000-30000 worth of deposits everyday. It's not my business so would I have to have approval from a owner of my business? As far as the background check is it the same check done as purchasing a gun with the exception of a interview/ reference interview?
