Plus guns are banned at the casino... I remember someone posting a picture of the no guns sign at md live, I've seen it in person...

Does living in Baltimore city negatively affect your carry permit application?

I meet the criteria to be considered for being issued a carry permit but live in Baltimore city. I have heard that may cause them to deny my application. Is there any truth to that? Any advise would help. Thanks

No. If you meet the criteria you should be GTG. I have never heard of where you live being a disqualifier.

Update: Got my phone call today regarding why I wanted to have a handgun permit.

My G&S I am a business owner that owns a payroll company and transports signed payroll checks to various parts of Maryland. I also make bank deposits weekly ranging from $300 to $1000. I also carry large balance credit cards in which I purchase computers and office items.

Got an email response today after inquiring about the status again.

"8-6-13 Application was reviewed and a shortage letter sent requesting a bank letter. You will have 30 days to forward the documents to us. Thanks"

    My response:

    Hi James,

My G&S was based on several factors one of them being banking transactions, business purchases and the delivery of payroll checks (I own a payroll company). What is MSP looking for from my bank specifically in the letter?

    Thanks

What the crap?!? Just ignore everything else in the G&S?? Does it sound like they will disqualify me if they do not approve of whatever is on the bank letter?

They are likely verifying legitimacy of the business. Have the bank verify the business that exists, the general nature of the transactions, and the fact that it functions as a business.

I am a business owner and deal with cash and deposits daily, so I believe I had G & S. I got a DWI about 10 years ago in Virginia. I am a MD resident. My insurance never went up, I lost my privileges to drive in Virginia for a year or two, but nothing ever from Maryland. When I do a MD case study, nothing shows up. I recently got my Utah CC and my MD Designated Collectors letter. I did not mention the old DWI on either application, as I didn't think it was a criminal charge, but have since been informed that it was by a friend. My application is sealed and ready to be mailed, but I am thinking I need to redo the application.

    Any thoughts/advice?

how long has it been since you applied? Have you had your interview yet? When you sign it you are stating that everything is true to the best of your knowledge. If it has not been to long maybe call and tell them you forgot something on the app. ?!?!?! Or maybe tell them at the interview. If it has been a while then maybe just hold tight to see what plays out.

I applied for my Carry Permit back on 5/31 and received this week. They asked for copies of deposits and a letter from the bank. I also had to supply some additional information from my employment. The letter from the bank was short and sweet, it stated that I made monetary deposits.

Ok so I have tried contacting the permit section multiple times because I have still not received this letter.

I understand they are busy however, I was told they were gone for the day...again...at 1:00pm?!?!

I asked why, they're supposed to be there till like 4 or something, and was told because of the heat........?!?!?!?!?!

I don't know what the question on the application asks, but if it's something like "have you ever been convicted of a crime?" then I would say you need to unseal that application and correct your answer. the cover up is always worse than the original crime--just my 2 cents

Just heads up. I never recieved my shortage letter but was able to contact Corp Burns at MSP. He told me that they wanted a letter from the bank simply stating I have active and open business accounts and active cash flow. I had my bank put a pre typed letter (that I did) on bank letter head and they signed it. Sent it in. Spoke to Corp Knaub today and he said that I should be receiving my permit early next week. Since I did not get my letter in the mail I am wondering if I will actually get the permit?

They did not ask for amounts of cashflow, just active cashflow.

    Just FYI

The amounts of business related currency is not important. Just as long as business related currency exists.

I do not think the MSP care where you live. You either have G&S, or you don't. I do not think they will say you do meet the G&S requirement but you can't have a permit because you live within Baltimore city limits. If anything you need it more.

They received my application on 5/31 and I received my permit on 8/4. They told me they have 90 business days to make a decision to approved of not approve your application.
