Garand1957 is not a member here anymore, so ill speak for him, the cabinet came from a old police station, when they moved they were getting rid of stuff they had in storage, that lucky Bastard just happened to be at the right place at the right time and got it for free. He does have a nice collection of SKS rifles. the ones on the bottom there are Albanian SKS's. I have one for sale in the classifieds now. There is about 5000 of them that are supposed to be left in the world.

I wonder if that's what I have. My de-bubbaed SKS is black paint what is either chrome of very shiny silver steel. I can scrape the paint off with my finger nail.

Geez, OCJ. When I opened this thread today and saw pics of "the bench" I got all excited! ...Until I realized it's an older thread... :lol2:

I was behind the times on SKS's. All I can offer up is my Norinco I've had for a long time posing with its two new Asian U-Fix-Em buddies from Royal Tiger.

It's a humble beginning, but it's a start. They are getting regular range time and they all are telling me they need more friends.

If you mean the big screw in the stock, then no. It's not the original stock. The rifle came to me in green picture. There isn't a matching number on any part of this rifle. But the main bolt seems to be chrome too. The rear cover that came with it is still painted green.

Yeah someone opened up this thread from the dead earlier,so i posted back, seems its getting new life now that there is a bunch of folks getting into SKS rifles.

I went back and dug the original gas tube and rear cover. The gas tube looks chrome, the rear cover has thick green paint on it.
...now where did I put my Dremel tool?

I have a Chinese SKS and according to the serial number it was made in 1965 (it is a 9,xxx,xxx serial number). The numbers on the receiver and the bolt match and it came with the owners manual ziptied to the trigger guard. Apparently the original owner never fired it, he just collected firearms. It also had the cleaning rod and the original cleaning kit in the buttstock. All I need to do is find the correct bayonet for that year. Any idea on where to get the correct bayonet for a 1965 Chinese SKS?
