Weirdest thing the other night. There was a big 8-10 point buck just sitting in the middle of the intersection of Rt. 40 and Red Toad Rd. in North East. He wasn't really moving, staying very still, eyes open. I wasn't sure if he was alive or dead (rigor mortis?) This was Wednesday night...anyone else see him? He was gone when I drove back through 2-3 hours later. Kind of eery.

Thinking he may have been hit by a vehicle, got hurt, sat down and died that way :(

Could have a broken spine. Partially paralyzed behind the front shoulders. Or, got hit and was stunned. Sometimes they recover, sometimes they don't.

I didn't see him, but I am pretty amazed by how often I see dead deer on the sides of the roads around here. We have a pretty large deer population.

Never mind the dead deer, it's a rare commute I don't have a live one giving me the hairy eyeball from at least the shoulder, often multiple.

My freezer has way too much space. I'd love to take a couple of those hairy eyeballed creatures and fill it up.:yummy:

I hope they stay out of your way. Drive safely.

I have a bunch at my land who are deer jerks. They come out at night to avoid being jerk-y. Other nighttime deer conspire at roadsides, or are depressed deer. I wish the depressed deer would go to my land when I am hunting. Corn will cheer them up, right?
