I've been wanting to go to a bowling pin shoot for a long time. The scheduling stars finally aligned Saturday and I went to the Pins shoot at the Monocacy Pistol Club.
To summarize for anyone who hasn't done it: There's a table about 25ft away with 5 bowling pins set up in two levels. The goal is at the sound of the buzzer to shoot all 5 pins off the table in as short a time as possible. There are time penalties for leaving pins lying on the table, and a bigger penalty for leaving them standing.
My priorities were Safety, Accuracy, Speed (in that order). I was a little nervous to shoot under the clock and was worried about skipping a safety step. Everyone was really helpful to the newbies and the nerves didn't last too long. I didn't see any safety violations all day.
As far as accuracy, I was a little worried if I could hit a bowling pin at 25' but it turned out I could, just not very quickly!
To sum up, it was a great time and the folks there seemed like a really nice bunch of guys. The club is private, but matches are open to the public. I'll definitely be going back!
