I've been through Ashland. Spent a long weekend when one of my brothers 'rescued' the daughter of some damn hippies and after doing the paperwork and ceremony, exfiltrated her back to AK.
I can just about guarantee, based on many interactions with the folks there, that almost nobody caught on. Or they are living so far in denial it doesn't really register.
