Crappy picture, but got these guys last week from a friend. Luckily he sold me one of his Czechpoint unissued Vz. 52's since I didn't pull the trigger while they had them in stock. The other is from a different importer, but looks just as nice as the unissued one. Neither have a refurb mark.

And just what type of fool would part with such fine looking pistols? Oh yea, right it was me:innocent0

If anyone out there has caught the Sig-ness, please help. Can it be controlled?

Nice! I missed the unissued VZ52s as well and regretted it. I finaly found a decent one on GB and then like a week or few days later someone posted up their unissued one for sale. I could have kicked my own azz for not having the money handy to buy that one too. bad timing on my part.

Why did the Czech military designate this pistol the vz.52 (but the rest of the world calls it a CZ 52) and also designate its semi-auto rifle the vz.52?

I believe VZ comes from the Czech word "vzor" meaning "model", and the "52" comes from 1952, which would be the year of adoption for the rifle and pistol.

The Czech military probably didn't feel the need to distinguish between model numbers on the rifle or pistol. Much like they didn't when they adopted the VZ.24 rifle and the VZ.24 pistol

Yeah ... vz. is "model," and CZ is an abbreviation for Czech. The correct nomenclature is v. 52, vz. 82, vz. 24, etc.

Kind of along the same line, Russians wouldn't refer to a rifle as being "Mosin-Nagant," since they tend have a good bit of disdain for Mosin's relatively small role in development of the rifle. The just call it a "Nagant" ... a term that's so much a part of their vocabulary and history that they also often use it generically to mean any rifle ... sort of like we use "Scotch tape" for any brand of cellophane tape.

Crap ... EEEEEK!!! deserved. I had it backwards. It was Nagant who was held in disdain, and they are referred to as, "Mosins."

A good buddy just brought home one of these after going through the long wait required for the BATFE to process his paperwork. His (not the one pictured) is a Vietnam re-capture that was taken from the French, then snagged by an American who made sure that the previous owner no longer needed it. It is very well documented. It came into the country just in time to be registered during the ATF amnesty program, so it's fully legal

I'm hoping to get the opportunity to try it out. Yes, it's C&R ... but also full auto.

I suspect that Mawkie will appreciate this one. That's one of the main reasons why I'm posting it.

I did not just get this, but I recently got it together. Last summer/fall I bought a barreled receiver in a broken stock from Dennis Kroh (Empire). Got a great deal. Is a 41' VKT, bluing is maybe 50-60% and the bore is very good. Only issue? The stock was completely broken from the tang through the wrist.

OldCarJunkie was kind enough to introduce me to someone who had an M39 stock. It is a postwar stock, and it had no hardware. I added the hardware from the old stock, and here it is. Turned out nice. The handguard is more brown and the stock more red, but I don't care. Here are some pics:
