    The main thrust for WVCDL this year is getting Campus Carry approved for WV. Come join us and wear a black shirt. All welcome and invited!

    While not a criminal offense or illegal in any way under current law, students, faculty and staff who exercise their constitutional right to keep and bear arms on college and university campuses across the State of West Virginia face administrative repercussions including expulsion or firing. This bill would ensure that law-abiding adults do not have to chose between their studies and careers or the ability to exercise their right to self-defense.

    It finally made it through the House, now comes the push on the Senate to pass the Campus Carry bill. The opposition from outside money and special interests is strong, but I believe we are stronger!

    Campus Carry Bill Fails in Senate Judiciary Committee

    On March 5th, House Bill 2519, The Campus Self-Defense Act, failed to pass the West Virginia state Senate Judiciary Committee. HB 2519 previously had passed the state House of Delegates by a vote of 59-41.
    House Bill 2519, sponsored by Delegate Jim Butler (R-14), would have allowed law-abiding CHL holders to carry on the campus of a state institution of higher education. Current state law does not prohibit carrying of a defensive firearm on campus...
