I had some spare 500gr hollow points sent to me and i tried some here and there. Mostly plinking but i found that using some trailboss was 110% giggle worthy. Sounded like a bowling ball getting shoved into the dirt, even at 200 yards. Never bothered checking group size, it was more of a plinker for me at that point.
Got a chance, to shot some more test loads. This is my best group so far, with this bullet. With pure lead and powder coating, these bullets weigh 341 grains. All 5 shot groups were from 50 yards, from a bagged gun on a bench. My groups, may have been better, if I was using a bigger Magnification Scope. Because, this isn’t a long range rifle, and will only be used for in the woods deer hunting, I’m using a straight 4 power scope. I didn’t adjust the scope to hit point of aim, but these are pretty close, but will be adjusted, to do so.
Loaded up some more of this load, and hope to get a chance to shoot them at 100 yards, and maybe farther, this weekend.
Stretched out my load today to 100 yards.
I’m pleased with how it turned out.
Just like always I pulled one shot and ruined my group.
Even had a chance to shoot it at 200 yards. Just by dumb luck, where the crosshairs get thicker, it’s Perfect for a 200 yard hold.
Accurate enough, at 200 yards, that I wouldn’t hesitate to shot a deer that far, if given the opportunity.
