They're available for pre-order now, apparently.
17 and 19 models available first.

    What's changing?
    A new tougher finish
    Changes in the rifling
    Longer recoil spring assembly
Reinforced forward notch for the recoil spring assembly
A smoother trigger similar to the G42/43
    Flared magwell
    No finger grooved
    Changes in the safety plunger
    Ambidextrous slide release
Magazines have an extended front lip
    Magazine well cutout

    Official reveals
The Gen 5 will be displayed at the NRA Carry Guard Expo in Milwaukee, on 08/25/17. They will also be revealed at 100 selected gun ranges, on 08/26/17. Was told Glock will make a official announcement on 08/30/17.

That slide release looks worn from use. I wonder if that was a test gun. I'm not sure if I like the ambi slide release. I guess lefties would like it, but I kind of want as little as possible on a utilitarian gun like a Glock.

    Hmmmm......

I have Gen 2 - 17 that I love. I like the ambi safety. Being left handed and all that. It would need to have the same soft shooting characteristics as my Gen 2. I would have to try one first.

I like the finger grooves of my Gen 3s. Can't see me running out for this.

Don't like finger-grooves on any handgun or grips...never have. If you have just the right sized had to fit it that's fine. Mine don't. It's good to see Glock recognizing that not everyone's hands fit the finger-grooved models.

Speaking just for myself, the Glock grip angle is too severe...I grew up on 1911's and it just feels natural (Thanks John Browning!). Tupperware guns are ok...I have a Glock M30 and a couple H&K USP's. I think they're good tools...not works of art and that's ok.

I won't be running out to buy a new Glock...there's always something being released to get people to buy the newest and latest thing. New doesn't necessarily mean better...marketing is what it's all about.

Thought I was the only one that liked the finger grooves, although on the gen4, the grippier texture overall, and smoother front/backstrap texture is a lot more comfortable. Would be cool if everything will get the dehorned slide like the babys and comp models. Not sure if the trigger will end up better or worse, I like the smoothed face 2G-early 3G best, the G42/G43 triggers are the heaviest, with the most overtravel, hate the serrated trigger shoes on compact models too, the G43 is the worst, lacking an easily swappable smooth replacement
