I just bought a nice soft suede rifle sheath and was curious to know if it would be safe to store my rifle in it. Does anyone know if the suede may have any harmful effect on the blued finish?

All depends on how the leather was treated, in terms of whether the suede itself could damage the finish. If you've got a light coat of oil on the finish, that suede is going to drink it dry.
Speaking of dry... that suede can also hold a environmental dampness against the gun, and introduce surface corrosion.
Maybe consider slipping the rifle into one of those silicone-impregnated gun socks before leaving it for any length of time in direct contact with that leather.

leather is sometimes tanned with corrosive chemicals. I probably wouldnt risk it with a nice gun. I have had knives react and rust really badly in leather sheaths. I think it was chrome tanned that was the problem.
