I was looking to add the above to my collection and was curious if anyone had any experience. Good, bad, ugly whatever. Just looking for range use and maybe occasional western md whitetail.

I have one and like it. Clean it well before you hit the range for the first time and you shouldn't have any of the FTF issues some people have. A little on the heavy side and proprietary hand guard are the only thing i can complain about. I also put a new trigger(SSAE) in.

Thanks. I heard of some of the ftf issues. It certainly is not a light weight ! First time held was very surprised on the heft but I am bigger so do not mind it and would think would help soak up any recoil.

Mine had cycled flawlessly so far, even with crappy Peruvian surplus that my .308 M1 absolutely despises. With good commercial ammo it's made some nice 0.75"-1" groups at 100yds.

There have been quite a number of threads discussing the Sig. You could search for "Sig 716" to find them.

ETA: recoil is very manageable due to the weight.

I have one of the first ones made. I've never had any FTF or FTE. The recoil is quite tame and only a little worse than a SCAR 17. I swapped out the flash hider with a Daniel Defense muzzle brake and it tamed it even more. A few things to note:

    • The canned SIG 716 picture used in the advertising shows a thin profile barrel. In reality, the barrel is an HBAR and is quite heavy.
    • You cannot use a BCM extended charging handle; the hole at the end is not big enough for the piston to fit through... ;)
    • You'll want a set of KNS pins for the FCG; myself and a good friend both had issues with them walking...
