I just got back from a vacation to Prescott, Arizona. It really opened my eyes to how oppresive MD govt is - but thats besides the point and another post. After breakfast one morning I looked across the street and saw a sign for J&G sales - the same place Ive visited on line for years. Really nice place. I couldnt take pics inside but real nice people, ammo stocked on teh shelves, gun prices significantly lower than in MD. Also every thing seemed to be no hassle cash and carry. After abut 30 minutes had to turn away as there was nothing I could legally purchase and bring back without a hassle.

With all those gun sales, there must be a terrible gun violence and crime problem there......:lol2:

I was in PA for the 4th and went into the local gun store. Same thing. Everything cash and carry for PA residents and for about $100 or more cheaper than what it costs in MD. If I had the money I would of bought long gun.

    You know it!

My son lives in PA. He told me it takes 3 30 round mags just to get his mail. One for him and two for my DIL providing covering fire from the front porch.

And they live in a nice neighborhood! :D

I'm so glad I live in a state that protects me..:sarcasm:

Could you have shipped yourself a long gun or something?

Last month I purchased a Steyr 95 carbine from J&G for $125 shipped. Seems like an easy place to deal with. I still need to get some ammo and ideally some clips for it so I don't have to shoot it as a single shot.

I grew up in AZ and spent many summer weekends lugging bulk ammo from the J&G booth to my dads SUV. Of course we'd love to have those prices back, but at the time I hated cheap bulk ammo (the owner always offered a hand truck, but my dad preferred for me to hand carry and make multiple trips).

Wish I would have been successful in convincing my dad to get a SVD from them back in the day, but he was anti-commie gun (and with cheap surplus 5.56 and 7.62 there was little advantage to shooting that 'commie crap').

I just changed my residency back to Arizona (only in MD for the needs of Uncle Sam), and man was it nice to walk in and buy a lower OTC and then jam it in my pocket w/o worry of getting busted for concealed carry.

I can't blame the shops in MD for having high prices, they are in a hostile environment and got to do what they got to do to survive.

You cannot ship a gun to yourself.

But you can buy a case and bring it home as checked baggage. You can ship mags and ammo.

"You cannot ship a gun to yourself."

I have to take issue with that statement as I have been shipping guns to myself for years, legally.

If you read ATF publication 5300.4, in the question and answer section, it specifically says that you may ship a firearm to yourself for hunting or other lawful activity. You must use Fedex or UPS for handguns but rifles and shotguns can go via USPS.

It saves a checked bag fee and a lot of stares.

Went to Shooters World in Tampa (www.shootersworld.com), Florida a couple of weeks ago. They had a wall of EBRs that had to be 20 feet high (had to use a TALL ladder to get to the top guns) and they had everything you could think of and ammo in stock. There was even a 30-06 AR type rifle I had never seen before. The place is like a Cabelas for hunters, but full of historical guns and displays in cases. It was huge, if you are ever in Tampa it is on Fowler just up the road from the airport. Pistol range, reactive steel range, and rifle range (up to 50BMG) all indoor. Select fire rentals. Cases stacked on cases of 223 just inside the main door on sale. My nephew was heading out to Marine boot camp so I took him to do some familiarization before he left.
