CMP also added "M2 Ball, .30-06 Greek HXP .30 cal, Plastic Can, 180rds
    $135.00 per can".

Non-corrosive, slightly cheaper more expensive than the loose HXP option (ignoring ammo can vs plastic can), and boxed.

That's one hell of a good price.

I'll shoot that filthy and mildly corrosive stuff in my Garand all day long. Gotta break-in that new Criterion barrel somehow.

Then tear it apart and clean it thoroughly.

PS: Thanks for the heads up, OP. CMP is down 384 rounds. CMP is showing sealed spam cans with bandoleers inside. And you gotta love free shipping.

Is it really? That comes out to ($135 / 180 rds. = ) 75c per round, while the loose HXP is ($146 / 200 rds. = ) 73c per round. Plus, the loose HXP comes in a steel ammo can, while the new offering is in a plastic ammo box.

More likely nowadays I might be looking at modern manufacture PPU ammo (http://www.cabelas.com/product/PPU-M-Garand/1620230.uts) at ($410 / 500rds. = ) 82c, but then stacking on discounts like the ebay cabela gift cards (https://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=202545&highlight=junky) for -15% (70c per round) and the Active Junky (https://www.mdshooters.com/showthread.php?t=204049&highlight=junky) thing for -2% (68c per round).

Benefit of the boxed stuff is it should be same date which is nice when shooting. Loose stuff can be 2 or 3 dates or a grab bag for 10

Yep. Take note, too: "...Boxer primed, this ammunition is corrosive..."

based on last time this may be described as MAY be corrosive.

They had different lots of AYR AP some were corrosive, some were not, CMP listed them all as corrosive just in case....

My mistake, the loose is slightly cheaper.

Date of manufacture varies on the loose rounds. I'm assuming the boxed ammo means you will get at least 20 rounds from the same run.

I do not reload, but my understanding is the HXP brass is suitable for at least a few reloads where commercial ammo is unlikely to be. Something else to consider for reloaders or those who sell their brass.

Activejunky says 2% on ammo but every order I've made that has a non-ammo item in it I end up getting the total kick-back rate (like 10%). I kind of suspect it isn't supposed to, but I ain't saying nothing!

Why wouldn't commercial ammo be reloadable? Is it something special about the garand? I don't reload, though I am moving towards it soon. All of the PPU brass in .308 and 5.56 I've collected has been in nice shape and certainly looks like it would be reloadable.

At least for some commercial used brass I do know guys that have reloaded the same casing a dozen times with no problems.

I heard the PPU garand ammo was also pretty good brass as well.

I have heard good opinions on HXP brass, but had not heard anything against commercial brass, or PPU in particular. Either for reloaders, or non-reloaders planning on selling the empty casings later, the value of brass as a reloading component plays a part in the cost of shooting.

I am looking on the CMP e-store and can't find the Norwegian ammo anywhere. Is it listed somewhere else? I bought the loose HXP boxer primed in ammo box, it was listed as non-corrosive as is good ammo.

They are probably Sold Out , I think they only listed 99 Cans in the notice. I wonder if the Korean return Garand Program will have any Ammo included?
They wont be getting anything from Korea. CMP only sells what the Army gives them. The Koreans want to sell the garands they have. If they ever come back they will be imports not CMP rifles.
