Exactly as the title says, I've got two major projects at school come 4th semester. I won't go into details over the first one; However for the second project, I've decided to build a long slide 1911. With this in mind, does anyoe know where I might be able to find a long slide, and barrel? Granted, I've got plenty of time before I really need to start getting parts, I just figured I'd get a head start with the slide and barrel. If anyone knows where I can track down both, let me know! :D

You can buy slides from Foster or Caspian. I have used the Kart EZ fit barrel with my government 1911 with great success.

Here's Caspian's web site for the long slide.

    Here's a link to Brownell"s for a 5" barrel. I didn't see any long barrels though.

Here's another barrel maker that might have what you want.

STI may also sell slides and barrels.

Another thought would be to PM trikshot to see if he has a suggestion.

He does a lot of work on 1911s and may be able to help with suggestions

Placed an order with Caspian for a slide, and have a barrel sitting in my cart on brownells. Thanks again guys for me in the right direction! :D The only biggie left is getting a frame, which will be done at some point down the road, everything else should be relatively easy to pick up.

You may also check out the FUSION website. I think the owner of it used to work for Dan Wesson, as they have really nice, high quality stuff to build your own. Long slides also. Show us some pics after you are done :-)
