C&R Ruger Standard or MK I Target - Info and WTB

Have a coworker who is just getting in to shooting. Wants a .22 and wants it to be C&R so he doesn't have to get the HQL. He handled my old man's MKII target and liked it.

If you were on the hunt for a C&R Ruger would you go with the standard or the MK I target and why?

Also casually WTB a C&R Ruger Standard or MKI target he has me in the mood to get one now.

Definitely go for a target model with adjustable sights. I'd get the bull barrel over the longer, slimmer barrel, although the latter has a better sight radius.

Better yet, get a High Standard target model.

He might need to decide for himself. The weight and balance are different for the tapered barrel. I like a little more weight out front than a Standard, personally.

You gots lots to choose from! Early Rugers, Colt Woodsman and High Standards. I'm highly partial to C&R .22 autos. Love the Woodsman and early HS. Just starting to get acquainted with the MKI. Got a nice T678 recently with the Micro brand adjustable sight, very nice. And C&R as it was built in '56.

You see them fairly regularly up for sale on Gun Broker. Keep your eyes open, and you can find one in good shape for a reasonable price.

Not mint, but made in 1966. Is this thing really C&R now?
