Anyone have the Bushnell TRS-25 red dot? I picked one up cuz it was cheap and it has an obstructed view. Looks like it's the red dot projection piece sticking out into the field of view inside the tube. Is this the normal finish or has mine not been assembled correctly? I can't see how this obstruction is normal?

it's normal - I've got 2 of them. From the product page: Red dot LED light source secured inside the scope with adhesive (by design, partially obstructs field of view)

I believe you have a first gen version where the 'projector' is mounted at about the 4:30 position. The newer version has the projector mounted at the 6:00(at the bottom) position making the sight picture a little more symmetrical.

ETA: On the other hand, I'm not sure which version you have. The projector seems to be in differing positions on many varying models. There are plenty of YouTubes on the subject.

Both of mine have something similar (although at a different location). Once it's mounted and you're looking "past" the optic during use, you'll never notice.

But I thought the same when I got my first and thought it was broken.

I have 2 of these. They reside in a drawer that holds my "I tried it and hated it" box. Cannot hold a candle to the Holosun 503c. I have several of those, all on handguns. bob

To each his own. Mine co-witness on AKs and do the job at a good price for a fun gun at the range. There are better quality options out there, for sure, but these offer good value. YMMV.

The 503c is a better sight but you can find the TRS 25 on sale for less than $50. It is a budget optic and very good for the money. The Holosun is a midprice optic, hardly fair to compare the two.

I have about 4 and, for the money, you can't beat the TRS25. I have other expensive units like Aimpoint and Burris but they cost a lot more than the Bushnell. The most important thing is performance and these hold up to .44 mag rifle full power loads. ;)

    What about 12 gauge recoil?

I have one mounted on a DPMS AR10 and it has held up just fine. I also have one mounted on a .44 magnum lever gun without issues. For the price, it is a solid buy.
