No worries. If I were to buy/build an open gun, it would not be an STI.
STI ("Stacatto") is out of the race gun market anyways and is focused on the duty/tactical crowd. Atlas, BUL, and Infinity are the big players there nowadays, short of buying a true custom piece.

IMHO, the new Stacattos are of a lower level quality than the older STIs. I have held quite a few and the fit is loose (which should bother anyone spending $2500+ on a pistol). The slide to frame fit is just sloppy (not Glock sloppy, but sloppy none the less).

Update: After deciding to dump the frame mounted idea, I asked a bunch of friends to let me compare their dots side by side.

I decided on the Trijicon SRO 5.0 MOA and the will mount it on the EGW Bomar mount. Ordered from Optics planet yesterday and only after doing so realized it is on Backorder UGHH!!! They said expected ship date of 4/29/21

Well, got the old sight out however the mount is not tight enough. I was able to push it in with my fingers. It came with a set screw but there is nothing in the slide to screw it into.

Back the the drawing board I guess.

I don't think that the set screw is meant to go into the slide. It just pushes on the slide and pushes the sight plate up into the dovetail tightening it.

I thought the same thing; however the set screw hole in the mount is not threaded.
