Norinco proved decades ago that Chinese manufacturing was a force to be reckoned with (when they actually care about making something high-quality, that is) and we've obviously paid the price, and dearly, for underestimating their ability to build stuff every bit as well as we can.
That's a great looking 1911, especially with the commie star and the "made in China" on the side of a gun that looks better-built than most sub-1k 1911s today. I've had a hankering for tracking down an old Norinco Hunter to use as the starting point for a Totally-not-a-Galil/Vektor R4 clone build, and this thread really isn't helping on that front.
I just picked up one two weeks ago. Stainless steel model. Looked to be new and unfixed in the box. Put 5 shots all touching at 15 yards from a supported rest. Also have a Chinese 1897 shotgun I use for cowboy action shoots. Great shooter.
The MP on the barrel indicates a magnetic particle inspection of the barrel.
