Looking to migrate to far SW Virginia. Anything I need to be aware of from a firearms perspective? I'm guessing that it can't be worse than MD.

VA is fine. County laws and location will determine. If I wanted I can shoot in back yard. ;)

Moved from MD to VA a couple of years ago. Only regret is that I didn't do it earlier.

    Had to think hard :

For certain EBR and Pistol Grip Shotgun like objects , need two forms of ID instead of one .

You can't OC an loaded EBR with magazine over 20rd, w/o a carry permit .

Not anymore. 1 ID is fine.

Permit-less open carry, CHP is easy to get assuming you are GTG. No restrictions on what you can own.

Come on down. We need all the pro 2A voters we can get.

ain't that the truth. all the 2a types should come here to va, and all the anti's should move to md, and both states would have happy residents!

That was always our plan, but recent 'purple' developments have us looking further south. I would love to live in SW Va. Great people and plenty of space.

I like Va , lived there briefly as a baby, and have good friends there , and belong to VCDL .

But its not a good candidate for permanent relocation . , its tipping too fast, and NOVA continues to gain population , and will very soon jump down Maryland style rabbit hole .

Virginia is about 5 - 10 years behind Merry-Land & is sinking into the land of the Socialist Democrats very rapidly...

Take a good long look at the last election & the recent actions of the new Governor & newly elected Congressmen since the election...

The next election cycle in VA is critical. NoVa is more like MD than the rest of VA. There is a lot of activity in the county Republican committees trying to keep the congress majority Republican. The races are tight and the out of state actors are running wild. Recent migrants from NY, NJ, MD, and other Dem states are a real threat.

I was in central VA this weekend for a wedding, spoke to a lot of folks there.

I don't think that a bunch of displaced SS (Snowflake Socialists) from MD, filling up NoVa, will have any effect at all on the folks in the rural areas. Govt can pass all the laws they want, but those folks Will Not Comply. Seriously. And I doubt that there would, or even could, be any effective means of disarming that bunch.

yeah sure everyone will keep their guns. locked and hidden in their homes. no bringing them to the range, competitions, etc. that's the prob, bans on guns will infringe on our liberties to freely enjoy them. the only times guns will come out is for home defense, which is fine as i'd spend some time in jail to save my family's lives, or of course if the govt does come to disarm everyone.

so we cannot become complacent and let them pass whatever they want, as there WILL be effects.

These folks are not going to hide. They're ready to resist, if anyone is dumb enough to force the issue.

    And inevitably, someone will.

Think "Bundy Ranch", only it will encompass most of southern VA, NC, TN, WV . . . . It all hangs on whether there will be enough damn fools to strike the spark.

This is not your children's Maryland. Some folks are not easily intimidated.

are there any states where ar-15's in any form are actually banned? would be interesting to see how many are bringing them out of hiding to the various gun ranges.

I spend a lot of my free time in va

Sw is my favorite but in the nnk, central va, the valley and tidewater and the mountains.

You are correct, they laugh at us, they laugh and scoff at nova, the open carry because they can and especially if they think a snowflake will be around because they think it’s funny to watch the reaction it causes.

All the folks I know down there carry and shoot and don’t and won’t give two fvcked if nova passes any law they don’t like.

    Yep, VA ain’t Maryland

Compared to va, md is full of spineless wusses.

    Not a diss, a fact

I plan on retiring in va and have no doubts about it staying AMERICA

A little late, but this is why NOVA needs more active gun owners. I live in Fairfax county not far from the NRA headquarters and we can use more gun owners who will join VCDL and the NRA.
