Sure, very good movie, well written, based on the excellent novel of the same name. Bit of a downer, though.

Today's viewers would find it woefully lacking in special effects. IMHO it shows that really good movies don't need a lot of special effects, the brain's pretty good at supplying its own.

I'll never forget the mysterious Morris code signals they finally tracked down.

Here Alone on Netflix looks pretty good. I'm about to watch it.

After a terrible virus ravages human civilization, Ann finds herself living alone in a forest, foraging for supplies, and accompanied only by a radio that broadcasts a single transmission in French. Few animals even remain; the only survivors seem to be the roving hordes of infected creatures with a taste for human flesh. One fateful day, Ann crosses paths with two more survivors, Chris and Olivia. But after surviving on her own for so long, she struggles to relate to them and and their desire to settle down and start a new community.

Good one, loved that '80s hair:

I loved Night of the Comet too. I have it on DVD. Shaun of the Dead is another one of my favs. Comedy zombie end of the world movie. I have been thinking about this movie a lot lately and had to youtube the clip of their "plan". "We're going to kill Philip, pick up mom and Liz, go to the Winchester and have a nice cold pint and wait for this whole thing to blow over." It reflects what is going on these days with the coronavirus.

Want to watch something that hits a little close to home. After Armageddon from the history channel. More like docudrama, more interesting breakdown of things than a story.

Post your reviews and recommendations for those movies dealing with the subject.

To start a classic from 1962 "Panic in the Year Zero". Starring: Ray Milland, Jean Hagen, Mary Mitchel and Frankie Avalon.

Actually a good telling of some of the actual problems that might be encountered, no zombies. Dated in Black and White but I give it four stars. It is available on line.

Coming to a TV screen near you tomorrow.

"Panic in the Year Zero" Is scheduled to show on Comcast Cable at 4:40 PM on Sunday April 25, 2021 on channel 168 SPXAS (this is in Cecil County so YMMV).

It is worth the watching and will make you think about some things.

My favorite TEOTWAWKI movie: Cabin in the Woods. Very different take on end of the world. If you like Joss Whedon movies, you'll like this one.

Well how about reviewing them so people just coming to prepping will learn something.

IMHO, there's little to be learned from Hollywood. A few tidbits of ? useful info by watching a 2hr movie? I'll just go to the prepper sites to read real life experiences, videos and reviews. Learn more that way

Watched "Geostorm" the other night. What an awful piece of eco-utopian dreck.

    Summary:
The US establishes an orbital weather control network, involving a massive space station and a "shell" of satellite/effectors that remain stationary over their respective ground sites ... (you're gonna need a giant heaping pile of suspension-of-disbelief because nothing in LEO can hold position. Physics says so.)

The crux, as quoted by lead actor Gerard Butler:
“We built a system of satellites to stop natural disasters and someone is using it to create them.

"This was my life's work, Max. You know, they said it was impossible, but we pulled it off. And it worked perfectly, without failing, day after day, year after year, so what do people do with it? Turn it into a gun."
    Guns are bad, m'kay?

Not bad for a WWE production. I started a thread on this ten years ago when it came out. It’s still pretty good by today’s standard.
