I bought this for bow hunting, works good for straight shots. If you are in a climber you can use this, just be aware your distance will change due to angle and this range finder doesnt adjust for angle. It doesnt like picking up stuff at 400+yds...unless its reflective.
I currently have this range finder. I was trying to range a groundhog the other day and could not get a reading. I ranged a pine tree that i thought was a few yards in front of it. I missed three shots. The pine tree ranged at 179 yards. I checked the hole where the critter was located(no blood) and ranged back to my stand. It was 262 yards. I was definitely shooting underneath him. SO now I'm in the market for a new range finder.
