I deprimed and resized my factory 300 blackout. The lee instructions show it should be 1.368 . Only 2 or 3 out of 60 measure that most are 1.362 one is 1.35 . Should I toss these and cut 223 to the right size ? or is 1.368 the max?

The case spec for 300 BLK is 1.368" +0.0 to -.020
Most all of my brass is formed from 5.56 LC and trimmed to 1.360"
I also use a Sheridan case gauge to double check all formed and trimmed cases.

Hodgdon will show a trim length of 1.363", but like roadhawg I'd trim mine down to 1.360" - it was just a easier number to hit on my case lathe.

I bought some reformed brass and they are all measuring 1.355. I'm going to shoot them for sure, at least they are consistent in length.

This.. most trim to about 1.360", a few thousandths less won't really hurt.. ;)

Most of the specs I have seen for length suggest 1.363-1.368, but usually you trim back about .010 on a bottleneck case, so...

I've been keeping my 300BLK brass, and good 308 brass; going to start keeping my really good 5.56 brass, with the hope that I can work a deal with some of you doing 300 in the future.

Chatted today about the awesome versatility of 300BLK, but most complaints are about the still mostly limited ammo available and cost. Yep, I agree its not as cheap as 5.56, and not as long range as 7.62x51 (.308), but it's the only cartridge in the world that does both pistol (10.5"), CQB, and medium range rifle so well (out to 700 yards I've seen on YouTube) and much more powerful than 5.56. I'm sold on the cartridge, and that's mostly because the specops community is in love with it.

    Make more. :)

well tomorrow will tell :) made my first ladder today.
16 to 16.5 of imr4227 150 grain bullets . Wife doesn't think its worth it as I spent 8 hours loading 60 rounds :). it was my first time reloading , I took Jaybeez's class and spent the last few weekends studying the book . I measured and weighed everything multiple times

Where's Deesly on this? I talked to him in a shop one day and it sounded like he had the black out process down pat.

1.360" here...... first batch I got of 100 was very short on some 1.3645"ish. I was loading subs so I had plenty of projectile to crimp to.

I trimmed my initial batch, like everyone else, to 1.360"

I mostly shoot subs, and I've noticed little to no growth of the brass, at least nothing that would require re-trimming.

I'm usually in the area of 10.8 gr A1680 for my 230gr sub loads, keeps it right at around 1050 fps.

Even my supers don't stress the brass much, i've got multiple loads on the same brass and I've seen maybe a 0.001-0.002 growth.

This is all cut down Lake City brass.

I trim mine to 1.355. Lehigh Defense brass is factory 1.355 and shoots very consitantly both in super and sub.

I really like this round for a number of reasons. Easy to make your own or buy brass. Low recoil, shoots well super/subsonic, projectiles are plentiful in a variety of sizes/shapes, effective range and excellent terminal performance. I have dropped the hammer on many a hog at 100 yards and not one of the went further than 10 feet. What's not to love?
