    Hey,

I am just starting to learn about the different powders that are out there.

I was wondering, for the .223/556 what are some of your favorite or best performing powders and accompanying recipes?

Most of my .223 bullets are in the 50-60Gr range. but I have a varying of types, HP SP B-Tip FMJ...

right now i am loading some:
    BCL-2
    CFE

Since I am learning a lot of new things right now, I was wanting to pick one or two powders and stick with that for awhile, until I round out my skill set in this area. the two powders I mentioned seem pretty close in loading and performance.

Let me know if there any details I left out as far as the type of equipment I am using or what not.

    Thanks for reading my post.

    H335 is my go-to.

Has done very well from 40gr varmint bombs up to 75gr Match rounds.

Meters consistently and burns clean. What more could I ask for?

if you are using a progressive press with powder measure on press, i'd go for BLC-2 or H335 as they will meter more consistently in your charge bars. If hand weighing or using an automatic powder dispenser, use whatever gives best results. for my limited experience that would be varget and 4198.

    Sooo...

A few months ago I bought a 8# of CFE.
thus far no one has recommended it on this post, unless I missed it.

has anyone tried it, I know its only a few years old.

It seemed similar to BLc-2? as far as I could guess.

    lemme know.

and a slightly more advanced question for me to ask at my current skill level, when you all say it meters well, what exactly does that mean? ; and, as opposed to not metering well? I am no where near "metering" my loads yet.

    Thanks all.
