Are these AR style pistols legal in MD? There are a lot of calibers available, including 45 ACP, 9mm, 7.62x39, 5.27mm, and .300 Blackout. Not cheap, but pretty cool.

In all seriousness, you'll have to buy the pistol lower receiver and upper separately then assemble yourself, since it takes an age to get anything through the handgun board.

I looked at the MSP handgun roster and the CMMG Banshee 300 in .45 and 9mm have been approved, but I don't see 10mm.
I presume that means a CMMG Banshee 300 in 10mm is considered illegal in MD?

Currently yes, it's "illegal". But you can submit it to the mystical wizards at the handgun board and they can approve it. I've heard it takes ~3 months for some guns. But being that the CMMG Banshee is already on there in some form, a new caliber should be relatively quick. Check with your local FFL, they should be somewhat familiar with the process.

To split up the cost, I'm considering getting the CMMG lower for 10mm initially, then getting the upper later. If I go this route, would just the lower also be considered illegal until the whole pistol is approved?

I'm mostly guessing, but I say you can't buy the lower, because that's the part with the serial number and considered the firearm.

Hey, I bumped your question, so...

I'm going to submit a petition for the CMMG 300 MK10.
I don't see it mentioned in the petition list for the last meeting or the meeting minutes from the last several meetings.
Next meeting is 6/10. I have until 5/21 to submit the petition which, hopefully, is enough time to determine how this all works.

Can Anyone with experience speak on them? I’m looking at one in 5.7 and considering a can with it. They look nice

There are plenty of people on this board who have and love them in all their forms. I don't think I have read any negative comments on them. I have no personal experience though.

You can buy the lower by itself and add the upper after the sale. Guys do it all the time. The lower is not the same as a complete pistol and does not need to be on the roster.

I have a Banshee 300 in 9mm and love it. The only things I changed were the trigger with a Rise Armament RA 140 and I added a LAW folding adapter. I have not had any malfunctions using Glock and Magpul mags. It stays very clean due to the delayed bolt opening and it is easy to keep on target. Buy it, you won't regret it.

I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, whether I wanted to buy the upper and lower separately or just buy the whole thing at once. I currently at looking at one in 5.7 with a can and buying it through silencershop.com and getting my NFA stamp all in once fell swoop. Has anyone ever used them? They seem to make the process stupid easy

Silencershop is the way to go for suppressors. They streamline the process. The kiosk fingerprinting is a nice touch that saves you grief and fifty bucks.
