    1. Urgent Action Item: Contact Senate to OPPOSE SB 1250!SB 1250, introduced by Senator Creigh Deeds, requires a background check be run before a person can rent a gun at a range. SB 1250 does not have any kind of limit on how long a person might have to wait for that background check - minutes, hours, days? What if the background check system is down?

    Voting anti-gun in committee: Hope, Bourne, Plum, Kory, Lopez, Rasoul, Price, Levine, Helmer, Cole, J.G., Jenkins, Coyner, Williams Graves, Mundon King

    HB 1992 - takes away a person's firearm rights forever for a conviction on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge - is on its way to the House Floor for a vote next week
    Voting pro-gun in committee: Wright, Robinson, Wilt, Fariss, Rush, Davis, Campbell, R.R., Coyner, Batten
    Voting anti-gun in committee: Hope, Bourne, Plum, Kory, Lopez, Rasoul, Price, Levine, Helmer, Mundon King

    This bill passed by a razor thin margin, with three Democrats abstaining from voting in the hope the bill gets some changes on the Floor.

    HB 2128 - increases the number of days a person has to wait for a background check to clear (from 3 days to 5) - is on its way to the House Floor for a vote next week

    HB 2276 - bans 80% receivers and other homemade guns - is on its way to the House Floor for a vote next week

    This bill had some resistance on the Democrat side.

    HB 2295 - bans guns in Capitol Square, state buildings and parking lots - is on its way to the House Floor for a vote next week

    We need VCDL volunteers to run the VCDL table at the Roanoke Gun Show on February 6 and 7

    Shifts:

    SATURDAY:

    8 AM to 12:30 PM
    12:30 PM to 5 PM

    SUNDAY:

    9 AM to 1 PM
    1 PM to 5 PM

    We need FIVE helpers per shift.

    Please RSVP to al@vcdl.org to reserve your shift!

    YES--face masks MUST be worn due to the COVID-19 medical requirements. If the show didn't require this, they'd be shut down.
