Hello All - I'm an escapee from the People's Republic of California and new to MD and the gun buying process. I got my HQL a few days ago and looking to start a small collection.

I'm a bit puzzled about the magazine issue (complete assembly vs. pieces) - and hopefully I'll get some guidance from the gun shop when I start the process.

I'll be lurking around here and there to get educated.

    Thanks!

    Welcome from Fulton.

IF you can get standard capacity mags parts sent to you in MD, you must assemble them out of state.

Basically, the only way to get standard capacity magazines in Maryland is to have them in your possession (already assembled) when you cross the state line into Maryland.

Welcome from Montgomery County. There was a time when we could go to VA to get standard capacity magazines but they changed their laws a year or so ago. So now PA or WV are the two closest states you can go to buy them. As the previous poster has said, you can get a lot of good information on this site. Do a search and you will find that someone has probably already asked the question before.

    Que?

There's nothing that has ever prevented me from stopping at any one of a number of shops in Virginia to purchase a standard magazine. I probably made 10 purchases last year alone.

    Welcome aboard!

Go out of Maryland, buy any magazine you want, and bring it back yourself.

Don't assemble > 10 rounds mags in Maryland.

I'm sorry for providing wrong information and stand corrected. I thought that the VA State Legislature banned standard capacity mags last year so I have not gone there to pick up any in the last several months. It is good to know that they are still available in VA. Thanks for the correction.
