I wanted to create a new thread where's we can post our new C&R rifles and their first results at the range.

Here are two CMP M1 Garand field grade I ordered in October and their first range outing. I centered the rear sight windage to the center and the elevation to 10 clicks up from the botton. Worked elevation down to zero at 100 yrs. For the first one, my original settings was on the money. The second one, I had to bring down the elevation down 2 clicks to zero it at 100 yards and shot only one clip to show the results.

Also, here is the CMP turnover on field grade as of October 2014.

    Very nice.

Are you telling me that CMP is processing orders in less than a month now?!?

Yes, been that way since they started offering Field Grades. I don't think that the same is happening with Service Grade orders.

CMP is processing for both field and service grade within a month. I ordered both grades in August and received them within a month.

Took my new to me $400 Rem 1903a3 with ME = 1 to the range. It was shooting low and left but after I got it sighted, the thing was dead on at 100 yds. I shot the 3 that are touching and my 10 year old did the rest.

I saw this 1903 sporterized in United Guns in Rockville last week for a reasonable price. The receiver and barrel dates it 9-29. The bore is nice and it looks like it was sporterized a while back and not used much. I can't date when it was Bubba, but they did a nice job. It came with a Lyman 2.5 scope. I shot it for the first time last Saturday with 175 grs and 155 grs Sierra MatchKing. The shots at 4 and 6 o'clock were with the 155gr. With more practice this could my deer rifle.

I dropped my order for a CMP Special grade M1 in the mail on October 9 and it was delivered to my door on October 22. That was with two week ends and a holiday between mailing and delivery. I really like the July 1941 Springfield Armory Garand that I got.

Looks like you did very well for "Field Grade" rifles.

Not a new rifle, but with a new stock.

I got a Remington 03 RLB marked stock stupidly cheap last week being sold as an unknown 03A3 stock. I replaced the improperly fitted, beat to crap scant stock that I had on my Navy 03.

Here is my highest scoring, but not tightest group of the day. It's an SR-1 target at 100yd, shot unsupported prone. It was quite cloudy and dim out when I shot, so I couldn't get a consistent sight picture or hold. I'm definitely eager to see what I can do with it on a brightly lit day.

Boy, those 2 field grades sure look a lot nicer than the 2 FG's I received a few years ago from CMP. Mine looked like they had been run over by a tank.
