My employer (don't want to post directly here but please PM me) is seeking qualified candidates for a CNC Mill Operator position at their facility in Baltimore, MD. Ideal candidate will be someone well versed in the operation of primarily large CNC horizontal mills and who has familiarity with machining of cast and conventional components.

I run the shop and thus make the hiring decisions in conjunction with my machine shop supervisor.

I have not determined pay rate as I do not know whether I want a novice or an experienced professional.

    Requirements:

Operate large Doosan CNC horizontal mill with Fanuc controller
Set up large cast and fabricated components in said mill for machining
Familiarity with editing of G-code for CNC
Familiarity with machining of cast components of varying steel alloys
Ability to identify opportunities to increase efficiency of existing machining operations without sacrificing overall product quality
Ability to clearly communicate opportunities for improvement of efficiency to the CNC programmer
Ownership over machining errors and the ability to recommend repair procedures
Ability to read machining prints of various drafting standards
Ability to perform basic maintenance and cleaning of machine and work area
An overall positive attitude and passion for the work at hand

    Additional Preferred Skills:

Experience with CNC and manual horizontal lathes
    Experience with CNC vertical lathes
    Basic welding ability

    Schedule: M-F 5 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

    Benefits:

    Health/Dental/Vision coverage
    401(k) with company match
    Paid time off
    10 paid holidays per year

If you are willing to hire a novice at a rate that would make it worth my while in regards to pay, to commute from Frederick during the work week, I'd apply in a heartbeat. I'd like to get into a trade of some sort than keep doing what I'm currently doing.

I am not sure if we want to take on someone with no experience in CNC at all. Small department so not a lot of extra bodies to teach from zero.

We are willing to take a beginner or novice but they need to have some CNC experience. Don't have quite the time to take in an apprentice.

Some really great jobs offered on the forums. I hope a candidate or three come forward and take the leap!
