I can say that the RRA LAR-8 is a great platform and the 2 stage trigger on the one I have shot, breaks clean at 6 pounds. The mags for it are not "standardized" by any means, but they are FN FAL mags. The LAR-8 will accept both the inch and metric pattern FAL mags and have no issues with them.

I like the Sr 762, but I have also read there has been Ftf issues with p mags. Magpul changed the design from gen 2 to gen 3 and that sounds like that's the issue.Anyone know if this has been corrected,or do you need to go with Dpms for mags?

Not sure what gen mine are, but have used 10 and 20 round pmags with zero issues...

up to around 2500 rounds through the SR762 with zero issues of any kind to date....

Cool, earlier model or recent. Read a couple forums including Ruger . Some issues with lower SER numbers some higher. I really like the platform and I believe the piston system is similar to the Fal.

The 10 rounder was new..got that about a month ago...was easier to use on the bench then the 20 round ones...

Will check to see if it is a Gen 2 or Gen 3...any idea of how to tell the difference?

No I wish I could, If you have been buying ,using pmags ,yours is probably good to go. After 2500 rounds. Since no more Saiga rifles ,and I'm sure ammo 762x39 will be disappearing off the shelves.I figured start looking into a common caliber like 308.

Yeah...been reloading too...have a nice 150gr fmj load I can do for about 20 cents per round....accurate too...

20 cent a round. At that price I would shoot my .308 much more often.

Got to start reloading. I have been saving my casings for a while now.

I got a really good deal on a 3100 pack of the bullets so they are being used a lot....

Plus having brass keeps the cost down...

Honestly I shoot the 308 and 300 blk more than 223 nowadays

Here is what I've boiled it down too, the SCAR just came in to play, figure I would try to go for the gusto...

    Bushmaster MOE 308 Mid-Length 16"Barrel.
DPMS G2 Recon Semi Automatic Rifle .308.
    POF P308 .308 Win/7.62 NATO 14.5" Fluted Barrel.
    Armalite AR 10A4 .308 Win 16" LE10A4CBA2F.
    FN SCAR 17s:thumbsup::thumbsup: but $$$.

Or have one built by one of the IP in here as a backup option...

I'm looking hard at the DMPS G2, I want a lighter weight AR10 and this one seems to fit the bill.
