    ...if you let them sit for a long time.

    Mine are in a safe with little to no humidity. Pulled out my 1847 Walker after it has slept for 2 years and the cylinder was immobile. No rust or corrosion once I disassembled it, but the bore butter had dried to a very hard, waxy substance. All cleaned off now and I G96'ed the hell out of it. Functionality is smooth as buddah once again. :thumbsup:

    I don't like using petroleum cleaners/solvents/lubricants on them... but I think I'm going to change my way of caring for them in long term storage. or at least take 'em out and let them bark more often... :)

    I use real mink oil (not the stuff you buy in shoe stores) for storing my BP guns. It's never let me down and all my BP guns sit out in different rooms of the house, including the basement. The only thing I do before shooting one is to wipe off the dust and run a couple of patches through the bore.
