    Close to home

Hello everyone this is my first time posting here. nice to see a forum like this.

That is 5 minutes from my house, have to check it out if I get the chance Saturday.

I have been considering joining the range since it is so close, anyone know what the large bore rifle hours are. I have been told by someone who was a member years ago that high power rifle range is more limited on when it can be utilized. Any info would be appreciated.

    Hi and welcome,

AAF&G does have restricted hours for centerfire but then again it is close. You can shoot centerfire from 8 to 4 on weekdays and from 10 to 1 on Saturday. No centerfire on Sunday. Rimfire can be shot from 9 to dark on any day. There are six additional weekends that are spread throughout the year that we can shoot centerfire. We have high power, AR15, Bullsey, IDPA and cowboy matches monthly. We have trap and skeet every Friday and from 10 to 1 on Saturday.

May 21st is one of the weekends that we can shoot centerfire all day.

    Regards,

    Thanks

Thanks for the info. I could work around those hours. Not as restrictive as I had assumed. I will have to stop by there and see if I can get someone to sponser me for membership if the club is still accepting members. I live in Cape St. Clair and work for DNR in Annapolis so I could not ask for a closer, easy to access location.

I have always enjoyed shooting but until last year had not done much about it, since then I gotten the bug again. I have acquired an M1 Garand, AR15, CZ 452 and broke out the 870 and cleaned it up. It has now become an obsession and something I do every opportunity I can.

    Mike,

I will be at the Trap trailer for most of Saturday. Stop in and say hello. We are always looking for new members and it is easy to get someone to sponsor you once they know you.

If you come, ask for John Michelli

I had a chance to stop by the range on Saturday, sorry i did not catch up to you John, but I did spend a bit of time down at the pistol competitions and had an opportunity to check out the other areas. Seemed like a great bunch of people and a very nice facility. I was told if I attend the next meeeting I should be able to fnd someone to sponser me without too much problem. Thanks for the info John, you sent me in the right direction and look forward to the possibilty of becoming a member.

AAF&G does have some nice facilities......the wife has been going over occasionally to some of the Friday trap shoots. It's a lot closer than PGC but the hours don't work for me at AAF&G so I end up schlepping all of the way to Greenbelt to shoot. With school ending I'll probably drive the 2 miles down the road to go to the AAFG range for the summer.

i have been a member of AAF&G for about 3 years now. and the hours are a pain, but the people in the area complain about the noise and one of them was a good lawyer. our new Pres is going to try and get the hours changed some. so wish him luck!!

    John,
AAFG is also very close to me; it'd be nice to find a local range to visit regularly with the plinker. I'll keep your name in mind should I drop by for a visit.
Like Mike, I have shot sporadically over the years, but lately have developed the fever. I'd like to start shooting the 10-22 regularly, pick up a centerfire rifle of some sort, and I'm also shopping for my first handgun...it's like Xmas again!

AND i would but i will be in uniform this weekend. but if the gates are open on Saturday for a match you can go in and look for some one with a range master badge (usually red in color) on of look in the club house some one in there maybe able to help. ALL members are suppose to ware there membership badges, but for some reason don't??
