I saw that on the shelf...maybe why I'm interested in one. not sure if i want to buy one rather to convert one instead

Don't do a conversion... Buy a gun that had been developed to work as a bullpup from the beginning. Just my $.02 ;)

bullpup would probably be the last i would add to my collection. the steyr aug would still be my choice. they were one of the first who developed the bullpups, i ike the older ones with 1.5x scope and also acts as a carrying handle, iron sights are already built in just above the scope. would settle for the 16 inch barrel just because of manueverability it can offer in cqb's, and quite enough at a 100 yds at the same time.

    thanks!!

    whats affordable in your opinion?

I can't think of a good quality bullpup that is inexpensive, and I've been becoming a big fan of "you get what you pay for" lately.

I think the Microtech MSAR is a great deal if you can get a good price. I have seen some of the new Steyr AUG A3s built by Daniel Defense and to be honest they didn't seem as nice as the MSAR - at least in the finish of the stock. You can also get the E4 version so you can use AR mags... Check GunBroker as there are a lot of them on there in various colors/configurations. I can't remember off the top of my head if they're regulated or not, but I think they are.

I've always been partial to the P90, but the ammo is proprietary and not nearly as easy to find as .223, even though the prices aren't as bad on the 5.7x28mm round.

I think the FS2000 is ugly, and does look like a Tuna Fish... There have been a lot of bullpup designs that either flopped, had problems (SA80), are ugly as F*** (FAMAS, QBZ-95) and/or are foreign made and import models don't exist here in the states.

Hey guys. I picked this MSAR E4 up last week from Mark at 2A sales. The price I got was better than what is usually on gunbroker and competitive with the best price I have ever seen on there, especially when you factor in a transfer fee. It is regulated so you have to wait.

I got a Vortex SPARC on top of it now and have a new charging handle and a brass deflector (for when my left handed buddies want to shoot it) as well a trigger thingy on the way. I'll post more pics when I get that stuff on there. Unfortunately I haven't gotten a chance to shoot it yet. I have fired an Australian army Aug though so I am not completely unfamiliar with it. Just mostly unfamiliar.

There seems to be a lot of community support for the rifle, and everything I have seen indicates great customer service from MSAR. As I understand it MSAR is in the process of moving facilities but after that caliber kits should be available for the rifle, hopefully within 6 months.

The weight distribution and of course shorter OAL are what really make these rifles shine. The two big issues I always hear with bullpups are trigger feel and mag changes. Well the mag change issue is completely overblown. If you can't figure out how to get it done quickly in this platform than I got nothing for ya. Maybe in some sort of competition that extra .5 of a second would matter but in any other scenario I can't see it making a difference. As for the trigger, well yeah it's not spectacular out of the box. We will see if the stuff I have on the way works as well as claimed to sort out this issue.

I got the MSAR because after 5 years Army infantry including doing double duty for the last half of that time on the line and as company armorer, I find the AR utterly boring. Not bad, just boring. Also I had a few GI mags laying around so that is why I went with the E4 model instead of the less expensive STG556 model, that and of course after Mark let my play with it in the shop I had to have it.

Here is a pic of the E4 Next to an Arsenal SGL20. The AK has a VLTOR M4 stock adapter and Magpul moe stock fully extended.

Please post pictures once you installed the new charging handle and the brasss deflector on your MSAR E4. I am thinking about buying those.

I havent handled the SG Works SKS stock yet but from what I have seen its the only one worth paying for or using. Once the SG Works stock is released I will have one.

The other SKS Bullpup stocks on the market do not imorove form or function of the SKS carbine.

Unfortunately the Mini 14/30 Bullpup Stocks are not well made or designed either, while they wont decrease reliability they dont have solid sights, and cause an already not so accurate platform perform even worse.

The only other Bullpup Weapons worth a "spurt" are:

    Bushmaster M17
    Steyr AUG or MSAR Clone
FN PS90 (After the barrel is chopped)

The Tavor should be on the market in high numnbers soon so I wouldnt give up on it. Te new Keltec .308 Bullpup shows some nice potential too.

The French FAMAS and the British L85 and L85A2 are very rare in the U.S. and are extremely collectible so I doubt they are options for most.

The FN FS2000 is a huge turd IMO

Wait, WHAT? Where did you hear this? Last I heard that plan went down with Daly.

Ah, I remember now, seeing this Israeli weapon on Discovery Channel, show called Future Weapons:

    http://www.videocrux.com/video/12625i12626/Tavor-the-new-Israeli-assault-rifle

Never thought that gun might actually make it to the US and certainly not within range of my checkbook. I hope 2AS&S is reading this and looking out for me.

Guys, you will enjoy this, jump ahead to 3 minutes, then put it on HD Full screen, kick back and eat some pop-corn. ;-)

Could you send me what you paid and a contact # for Mark?

Oh and for any of you MSAR owners that might be interested, Dawg180 on ARFCOM has a prototype forend for the MSAR that replaces the VFG and replaces it with a more tradition forend (like a Tavor). The more interest, the more likely he'll make it.
