Man would I like to have a blued Colt with ivory grips. I was thinking of getting a set from Nutmeg Sports.

Trumpet - those are some really nice ones.

    Good choice.

+1 it is nice to have a standard no frills 1911A1 to "own the legend", get a feel for the various habits and abilities inherent in the design, and get a better idea of what parts and accesories would be nice to have on your 2nd 1911 (it will happen). One thing about the springfield is that the ILS is built into the mainspring housing, and if desired, is easily removed by replacement with one of several aftermarket ones available.

Tell me about it, I have already started looking at my second 1911 a Kimber or a Para double stack, and I already picked up the replacement mainspring housing from my FFL for the GI model so I can remove the ILS

I sure wish that I'd had a set of ivory grips made for a 1911 when I spent a little time in Thailand back in the late 1960's. :(

colt model 1917, I've been searching for a good priced one....

there was a gunsamerica ad from someone in maryland but they never returned my email...

Christian soldier has an ad up for one over there right now, but he's $300 above my price range...

Out of all those pistols - there is only ONE that I like.

Uh, that would be - the ONE you give me.
