My slide hung up on mine when it was trying to go into battery, it had me stumped for awhile, finally figured out what was causing it after a week or so. The slide stop/takedown spring was OOS and needed a little bit trimmed off on the end that hooks into the frame, a little trimming and it worked like a brand new handgun.

Ordered the Brownells slide with RMR cutout. Anyone else have this ?

Yep, have this slide. Paired it with a Brownells Victory First barrel and of course the RMR. This setup was having issues going back into battery 100% of the time. It seems to have worked itself out though.

Slide hanging up on assembly. I think some sanding is in my future. I love the grip and features but I would love to get it working pretty quick.

Spend some time sanding/polishing the rails. That should smooth things out. Also use a straight edge to ensure the rails are all on the same plane. I've seen the rear rail piece out of line and requiring a bit of tweaking.

Thanks Ziptiespec, did you get the 3.25 or 6.5 RMR ? Leaning towards the 6.5 since I rarely shoot past 25 yards

You have to ensure when you install the slide stop spring, that it's completely below the groove that it sits in when it's installed. When you install it, if it's not pressed all the way into the tiny groove it fits in, it won't be seated low enough and can cause issues.

I trimmed one to make it work, but later realized it was not being fully seated. Take small punch (like 1/8") and apply pressure carefully with it near the 90* bend in the spring by the leg that goes down into the frame and at the same time, take your finger and lift up on the far end of the spring to help align it with the slot as you apply pressure with the punch to seat it. I have done a bunch since then and they have all worked like a champ. ;)

Had the same issue, seems common too. Got it sorted out, will post some pics of the finished gun tomorrow.

Nice. I have a Blacklist TiN barrel spec'd out for one of my Poly 80 builds. It's a lot of fun just mapping out the parts for these frames. I got burned out on doing the same with AR's...there are so many AR companies making interesting parts..rails, stocks, triggers, lights, muzzle devices, optics, color combos not to mention all the subcategories with calibers, SBRs, retro, "mission" specific builds, pistol builds etc and hard to keep up with all the latest and greatest that I decided to take a break from ARs and jump on the custom Glock bandwagon. It's kinda the same deal with these Poly 80 builds but on a somewhat smaller scale and it's new to me so having fun learning and building. Still lots of aftermarket options but sticking with the G19 frame doesn't seem as overwhelming...pick a slide, barrel, sights, trigger, customize with some colors, maybe add a magwell, RMR etc just more manageable than the AR scene right now.

Finished mine up Saturday, but after seeing Wayne's pics, I'm not posting mine, lol... :lol2:

To keep it simple on my 1st one, I used 100% Glock parts, so any possible issues would be self induced. It seems to function great, but haven't fired it yet.

Really, really wanted to shoot it yesterday, but at 3pm, when I usually can get right in a grab a lane, Freestate was such a cluster**** I left. A dozen people working, or at least walking all around, yet no one helping the crowd at the counter?

Wasn't at all thrilled with sharing a range with an obvious very new, and very nervous appearing, shooter getting about a 25 second "class" on how to run a rental AR, so figured I'd try another time. :mad54:

Glad I found this thread. Been looking into doing one of these. I'm still learning what's what. Am I mistaken or is there no gen 4 poly80 frames? I have a g19 and wouldn't mind trying this. What I'm seeing is won't fit the gen 4 recoil spring.

The P80 stuff is all based on the generation 3 Glocks. That said, if you Google "Polymer80 gen4 Glock" you'll find people messing with getting gen 4 slides to work on the P80 frames. Here's one of the handful of videos I found:

Look at how little material is left after hogging the frame out. I don't think I'd go this route myself. Gen3 slides can be found for not a ton of money. Ditto for the rest of the parts.

And that's what I have been seeing. I really wanna build one of these. Thx for clarifying. Looks like a fun project.

I think it better that P80 are based on the gen3 to keep cost down. Also parts commonality. The aftermarket is flooded with cool cheap parts, but buyer beware.

Thanks guys!! It was a fun first build, learned a lot too! I have 2 more planned, but they will be on factory Glock Gen3 frames.
