It's the least I can do since he got me involved in the shooting sports when I was 10-11. He taught me safety and to respect a firearm. And when I took my hunter safety course when I was 12 or 13, I knew more about firearms than most adults taking the class.

    All because of Dad.

Sounds like you have a good dad, and you are a good son. Just took my dad to the range the second time, even tho we only stayed a little bit, but it was good time. He would definitely like the mosin.

Cool present. He needs 2 boxes wrapped up, one for the gun and the other for the accessories and ammo! you do have ammo for him right?

My kids just give me a card.
    Can I adopt you?

    Yeah ... no kidding!

In fairness, I usually buy myself my own presents from the family. The money comes from the same place anyway, I get what I really want, and they don't have to try to figure out which ugly sweater to get me, etc.

And the beauty part is that I can get something *really* nice with only a fleeting roll of the eyes, instead of the usual, "Why do you need THAT?!" comment.

I have more than a full tin of ammo for myself that I will pull out of.

I'm thinking of putting one round in a pen box, wrapping it up and giving it to him first. When he looks confused, I'll had him the rifle. :D

I gave one to my dad last Christmas. On the box I wrote
    "To: Dad"
    "From: Commissar Claus"
Your dad will love his gift.

Just showed up today. Have some cleaning to do to it, but overall, it's in very good condition.

Here is a quick pic of the arsenal marks on the receiver. Side note is the numbers on the bolt, mag plate, butt plate and receiver match.
