They only reason for them to plead guilty is because they really didn’t care about standing up for their 2A rights. I’m not saying that I would risk going to
Jail and losing my business either if I were in their shoes. It just seems like they had a pretty good case and the connections and resources to make a stand.

At a point in time one has to look at cost. Is it crap sandwich.

Do you want to retain your guns and your wealth, or pay to fight tough and nail to the end?

Of they come out of this not prohibited, fine enough considering the CF it was from the get go.

We should all take notes about the difference an innocent body language mistake can make in this era of mob justice.

I wonder if they'd have been OK if they just kept them in a holster or slung.
I think it's insane to think they committed a crime, but I understand why they did what they did. Mistomeners are nothing. If I caught one, I could keep working in nuclear power.

Thanks for finding that, it's a better outcome than the first article I posted indicated. But even so, if they're not prohibited, and they own other firearms, and the case is over, why didn't they get their property back? They are serving no further evidentiary purpose. Hopefully more info will follow.

They pleaded guilty, so that probably has some bearing on it.

The damn thugs that invaded their private yard should have been majorly charged with something.

Pays to have like minded thugs in charge of the DA's office.

Here's direct from the source, with video, on Greg Kelly Reports:

Mark McCloskey to Newsmax: 'By God, I Did It; That's What the Guns Were For'

Avoiding felony gun charges, Mark and Patricia McCloskey pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges Thursday, settling a legal battle over whether the gun-toting couple broke laws in holding guns as protesters broke the gate and walked through their neighborhood last year.

"He dropped all the felony charges, all the gun charges, and charged me with a crime that said I purposely placed other people in apprehension of imminent fear of physical injury — and, by God, I did it," McCloskey told Newsmax's "Greg Kelly Reports."

"That's what the guns were for. The guns were there to scare people off and make sure they didn't approach us. And that's what the guns did.

"That's what the Second Amendment was there for, and I couldn't say no to that one," he added.

McCloskey, a staunch conservative and supporter of former President Donald Trump, is running for Senate in Missouri and avoided jail time on "two felonies each that could land us four years in the slammer," he told host Greg Kelly.

"As I said on the courthouse steps, if that's a crime in Missouri, I did it, and I'll do it again," he continued, noting he is going to pay the "parking ticket, a $750 fine and that's it."

There is still a further possibility of a pardon from Missouri GOP Gov. Mike Parson.

"I would like for him to do that, but it's totally up to the governor," McCloskey added. "He has said he would, but I will leave it up to the governor. He's a great guy and he's a great governor and he's done wonderful things for Missouri."

McCloskey denounced false narratives about his legal case, particularly considering his "very diverse" neighborhood he was protecting.

I do know their fools for pleading guilty when they committed no crime..and I know they just set a bad precedent for others who defend their lives and property with a firearm

This certainly gives the McCloskeys legal-standing in a 2A challenge. I don't "know" that such a challenge is in the works, but given that Mark McCloskey has tossed his hat into the ring to run for Senator of Missouri, it wouldn't surprise me if there were additional legal actions being considered.

If giving up two (easily replaceable) firearms was the price of walking away with a fine and no prohibiting offenses, then maybe that wasn't a bad trade. Definitely cheaper, faster, easier and less hassle than fighting all the way to the Supreme Court.

I do wish that his wife hadn't pointed her pistol at folks the way she did, though. That was purely ignorant and stupid.

Meh. They copped a plea. Easiest way out.

I suspect this, quoted from message #187 above, is what drove this decision.

“McCloskey, … is running for Senate in Missouri and avoided jail time on "two felonies each that could land us four years in the slammer," he told host Greg Kelly.”

This would have dragged on until the election and having open felony charges against him would have absolutely killed any chances of him being elected.”

Absolutely love the prosecution’s comments about the trespassers and their breaking and entering into private property. “These people were innocent people who simply made a wrong turn on their March”. Oh yeah? Was the gate with the sign already broken open? Glad to see they can still own weapons. Now wonder if the Governor will still wipe away the conviction like he said he would.

Or, follow me on this one here. They are an elected official and know which way the winds are blowing in their district and would like to get re-elected. Or is anti-gun. Or just thinks the McKloskey’s are a bunch of dangerous blowhards.

They are blowhards. Regardless of the Soros owned prosecutor, there are always appeals. Defense of your f’ing home is the CORNERSTONE of the 2A.

This can’t possibly be a difficult case to win.

I agree with you but would you risk your 2A for life rather than give up <$4000 in fines/guns.

Lawyer fees for the appeal would be several times that in a high profile case like this.
