I just bought a Mossberg 5500 MkII and I can't find much information about it. I want to use it for deer hunting and fit it with a scope but am not sure what mounts will work. It came with one 28" barrel, how would brenneke slugs do in it? Any info would help. Here's a quick pic.

I looked at getting a used version of this, but the negative reviews by a bunch of people put me off of it. If it has screw in chokes, you can get a rifled choke and use Remington Slugsters in it. Mounting a scope? Good question. If the pins holding the trigger group in are in the same location as the ones on a 500, you may be able to get a saddle mount for it.

Is the reciever drilled and tapped? There are also rib mountable turkey sights that would work also I shoot Sluggers through an IC choke and get 3-4" groups at 50yds.

Spoke with a nice lady at havlin sales she informed me that the majority of the parts are exactly the same as the 9200 and a saddle scope mount for the 9200 would fit. So I am debating now whether I should buy a shorter barrel for slugs. I hope I didn't get ripped off seems like a decent gun.

According to some friends who use slugs, the longer barrels are more accurate and push the slug out faster. YMMV.
