The idea of a historic Hooters gives me some unpleasant visual images...

I'm still haunted by nightmares of like images. I work for UPS. You hear of all the stories of beautiful women in all stages of undress answering to delivery men. When the door opened a crack I said, "I need a signature for this pkg". Peeking from behind the door a lady said, "Do I have to sign, I don't have a top on?" Before I could respond she said "Oh heck, nothing you've never seen before", and stepped out. I think she was about 80, and I had never seen anything like that before. Her breasts were about as big around as my wrists and two foot long. I think she could have tied them in a bow across her chest. After 30 years I have had many beautiful woman come to the door, but the only image I can bring to my mind is the one of a lady with a smile and a bow on her chest, Joe.

My grandparent's farm was right across the street. My grandfather's family used to own that place. The graves are the graves of family members several generations removed. According to my great aunt, (who died in her 90's a decade ago) the actual graves are located in the area that was paved over as the parking lot of the former Peter Pan Inn.

It kinda sucks for me. I won't go by there anymore. I remember 15 years ago, (or so) hearing some older natives of Urbana sit in my grandmother's house and getting a good laugh over a game of cards at the mention of a traffic light in Urbana.

Drove by the "historic" remains of the Crusty Crab this afternoon. Spotted a roll-off dumpster and an excavator on-site. I expect the site will be cleared in short order.

Took a pic this evening. Hadn't seen the two additional dumpsters behind the building (right side of photo)

No great loss IMO. The place had been sitting as an eyesore for ages. The old mill building near Ceresville Mansion would be a better restoration project. We’ve seen different people come and go taking a stab at doing something with it since we’ve lived up here.

Would make a good wedding venue if done right I think.

****Yea it would. First or mebbe second wedding. At some point, just do the justice of the peace thing, stay single, or buy a bunch of cats..

One of my co-workers has been married 4 times and she is only like 40 or so. Her last wedding was at the Justice of the Peace. Yes, she is pretty hot, and no I won't post pics of anything other than the conga line of cats she needs to consider buying at this point.. She's already dating some new dude so mebbe #5 wedding will be coming up...

I've ridden by that building and it IS a nice looking place, btw.

    Changed zip code
Affectionately known as "The Crusty Crab," The Cracked Claw restaurant in Urbana is going under the power shovel. I'm certain it will be replaced with something with much less character. Looks like a foundation for a bank pad is already in progress. Maybe a Chotchkie's would be appealing to the Ubanaites.
Is that wrought iron in windows? Second to last pic?

It's my understanding from someone that considered buying this property that the back wall is structurally compromised & needed enough work at the time that, in his opinion, it wasn't financially feasible to restore.

I wondered about the structural integrity of the place. There are what appear to be steel shoring I-Beams on one wall visible from the street. Probably most of the wood structure is severely compromised.

I think the top of one is barely visible above the shrubs on the right side in the photo I posted. It’s surprising to me so many people have taken on that building only to then give it up. One would think they would have made themselves aware of the extent of the problems before getting into it.

edit: here’s a better view from Google Earth
