Thanks for putting together a great resource and community!

I just applied for my HQL on Saturday and put down a deposit on a Vickers G19. I've shot G19s and ARs in the past, and am finally getting on board.

Any advice for a new gun owner would be appreciated -- what do I need, etc.? So far I have a gun safe (I have 3 kids), range bag, eyes and ears, and ammo on order. Took my HQL on Saturday -- everything is completed on my HQL checklist except CJIS and secondary review. Any idea what would hold that up? I don't have a criminal record, hold a clearance, have all sorts of fingerprints and "nice things" on file . . .

    Thanks!

Welcome aboard. You will probably need a place to shoot. If you are military or DOD civilian, you can get into Meade Rifle and Pistol pretty easily. It's not too far from Edgewater. Bowie and Annapolis both have clubs but they are rather expensive to join. Anne Arundel Fish and Game has AR15 matches, Idpa matches, Bullseye matches and Trap that are open to the public. You can check it out at WWW.AAFG.Org.

    Welcome aboard.
Yes, on the standard capacity magazines, I'll add "do some dry fire practice, safely." Sounds like your on the right track, patience is a virtue when it comes to all the hoops they make one jump through.
