Thursday, February 4, 2016. All Hunters are Invited. Wear your Camo and your Blaze Orange Hats. Pink & Camo Day for the Ladies, too!

All Hunters are welcomed to join the Maryland Hunting Coaltion for the 2nd Annual Blaze & Camo Day – a Hunters Rally – in Annapolis, on Thursday, February 4, 2016. A new dimension has been added to and held in conjunction with the event to encourage our Maryland female hunters to attend; PINK & CAMO Day! Each female hunter that attends will receive her own commemorative cap.
This past February, hunters gathered in Annapolis to meet and greet State lawmakers en masse. Our intent was simple: remind our elected Leaders that when it comes to hunting, trapping and shooting-related issues, we, the hunters of Maryland, are hopeful they will make informed decisions in the best interests of the resource and the select few who underwrite wildlife conservation through their purchasing of licenses, equipment and ammunition.
Now, we’re doing it again and you are invited. There is no charge for this event other than parking ($5) and the shuttle.

DETAILS…Park and walk or take the shuttle (recommended).
    More details here, http://www.mdhuntingcoalition.org/MHC_Event.html

Our goal is to assemble on Lawyer’s Mall in front of the State House at 9 AM. You can walk, take the shuttle, be dropped off or find parking in one of the Annapolis parking facilities.

Parking at the Naval Academy is through Gate 5, the third gateway entrance into the Navy Marine Corps Stadium parking lot off Taylor Avenue (address for GPS purposes is 511 Taylor Avenue, Annapolis). It will cost you $5 to park in the lot and if you want to ride the shuttle, have a fist full of single dollar bills. The shuttle charges a modest fee to ride but it could save you the half-mile walk.
If you are walking, leave the Naval Academy Parking lot and walk down Rowe Boulevard to the State House – Lawyer's Mall is the area just outside the State House where the Thurgood Marshall statute/rotunda exists. To meet on the Mall, we will have folks stationed there in blaze orange caps.
Interested individuals will meet at the Naval Academy Parking Lot at 8:30 AM and walk to the State House - about a half-mile walk. The rally will only run from 9-11AM. NO Firearms, Knives or Bows/Arrow will be permitted. Bring your photo ID to access any state buildings to use the restroom or meet with lawmakers.

Download the flier from the MHC website to share http://www.mdhuntingcoalition.org/MHC_Event.html.

This is the group that teamed up with a baltimore senator to introduce legislation that killed the extended hunting season in Charles and Saint Marys counties without any scientific research.

This was only 1 year after Sunday hunting was taken away in SoMD. That was not enough time to collect data to make an informed decision.

I don't believe that the legislation that was enacted in 2014 allowed just anyone to hunt the extra months. It required DNR to establish rifle shooting training programs for deer control. It also took away the Sunday hunting gains that took a long time to get. DNR was not in favor as it hampered its ability to manage the deer populations in a scientific manner. The nickname for this bill was "The Deer Slaughter Bill".

Yes, it allowed anyone to hunt in Charles and Saint Marys.

No, it did not restore the Sunday hunting. Farmers may not reduce the herds on their crop damage tags on Sundays now.
