I was looking at the banned list for Maryland post 2013 and noticed that while the AK-47 in all forms is banned Maryland State Police found that the Arsenal SLR 104-31 (AK-74) is not banned because it doesn't meet the criteria of a "copycat weapon". Does this mean that all AK-74s are legal to own/purchase, or just that specific Arsenal model?

    FTFY.

Copycat is specific provisions for non-named banned firearms.

That is centerfire, semi auto rifles. They must be at least 29" long. And have no more than one of the 3 evil features.
