Is there a way to look up how many HQLs are active/issued in MD?

Maybe including where and when they are/were active/issued?

    I did a search and didn't find anything.

PIA to MSP on the numbers. I don't think they keep track of the when/where.

The HQL numbers are sequential. I received mine on 12/30/2013 and mine is close to 4500. Now you just need to find someone in Dec of 2014 to find out where that number ended and add the two.

I hadn't thought of a PIA, good idea.

    MacMoov,
Great info. That satisfies my interests.

I'm just curious as to the scope of HQL as far as the application processing side of the house. Large numbers like that help to understand the "long" delay for such simple checks.

Don't forget the 3 months of 2013 for numbers as well.

I believe they start over each year.. the first 4 numbers in the permit are the year of issue. Mine was one of the early ones in 2013 so I'm just guessing the numbers are done by year.

Also to date in 2015 is needed.

MM had accounted for that (~4500).

Do the numbers start over every year? Or do they just change the year before the number?

Year change prefix and a new start from 000001 each year.

So far my reasonable estimation from inception to current date is about 25,000 HQL's out there.

How long were they doing the "training card" requirement? (before HQL)
We have one here that is 205,000 as of July 2013 if that means anything. Someone bought a gun before the HQL to get grandfathered from training. :innocent0

Last one I saw was issued 06/30/2015 and was in the 96XX range for 2015.

ETA: So 4500+15150+9600 means about 29250 HQLs in MD at this point.
