Thanks for the info, they charged my card on the 4th, so maybe I'll

Just got my Star B. It looks pretty good except it looks like there was pitting on the right side of the gun then refinished over it. Also for some reason one of the mags just will not insert into it. It looks like the feed lips are more bent out then my other mag.

necrodude - you've also got a 1945 (I see a trend here :) ) and it's also in a block of Star B S/Ns. Those are original grips if they're wood. The follower on the mag on the right looks all boogered up (maybe it's just the camera angle).

So you Star experts, what do you think of this batch so far?

I'm no expert, I only have on Star B that I bought from Cole's last year. Looking a the refinish, I'm not ready to buy another one from this batch. I am envious of the second magazine, however.

I don't have mine yet and I'm certainly no Star B expert, but this batch has failed to knock my socks off so far. I was expecting them to be on par with the (non-C&R) Super B's that Lou has for almost the same money after shipping, and I'm thinking that's not the case. I believe there's a good chance I'll be eating the shipping on mine to send it back or maybe rolling the GunBroker dice, but we'll see.

Fed Ex tried to deliver mine today but I was at work and missed them, I'm going to try and pick it up this evening. As far as the quality of this batch goes, they seem like a LONG way from "excellent" as described on their site.

I'm not up on Star B prices, have these been worth what we're paying for them based on what we're seeing?

Yeah. No great bargains, and they are refurbished (not what I'd call excellent), but we're getting fair return for what we paid for them. I haven't tried mine with steel ammo yet. I hope that "slippery rounds" are a good bit of the problem. If not, I've ordered some Norinco mags to use for trying the "debugging" mods.

When I get mine loaded, and everything stays in column going in, it shoots great. Problem is that the column of ammo tends to fall forward.

Can't really compare them to the Super B, BS, or BM models as to condition. Most of these are earlier and have seen more.

While we're on the subject of Star Model B's, how long has J&G had them? I just noticed they are on their home page but not on the C&R page.
