DNR posted notices on Big Elk Creek they have suspended stocking. It's opening day tomorrow I expect there will be some disappointed fishermen on Big Elk. :sad20:

I got into Tenkara fishing about 2 years ago. Have 3 different rods at this time. Love it! It's my favorite way to fish!

TBH, I can't remember if I have a 12' or 15' rod. I think 12. Either way, I would not get shorter than 12 for your first rod. I'd go 15 knowing what I now now. Unless you are on a smaller part of the stream with lots of overhead, I'd go 15.

I have an older Pflueger microspin combo. Love it. Great for fishing tight streams. I use 2 split shot and 2 corn kernels. Find a nice hole. Toss it in and let the fun begin.

Best advice yet. Learning how to read a stream is way more important than gear selection.
Having good equipment is nice though.
