My permit expires in July so I submitted a renewal application on April 1st.

The check hasn't cleared yet so I decided to call yesterday to see if the package was received.

Bottom line: Maine is running five months behind. The good news is their law provides for such an exigency - an expired permit remains valid as long as the licensee has followed proper procedures.

Now to decide if a vacation to the pine tree state is in the cards.

    With lot's of "splaining" I guess <g>.

Assumption: Spokeswoman was truthful in saying their records would reflect the situation, and officer(s) subsequently checking permit status would be advised thusly.

    Moot point now.
