FYI: We left on the escorted ride from Old Glory to the Pentagon Parking lot with at least 12-14 motorcycle officers. What a SAFE ride, not one vehicle on the road, the officers were on their A-Game

Now to the title of this thread: For those of you who have rode into DC with Rolling Thunder in the last 17 years, you probably saluted the Saluting Marine. Just heard on the news he is retiring from his post during Rolling Thunder. Along with my grandchildren we will certainly miss saluting him.

Rolling Thunder "Saluting Marine" Retiring from his post.

In a gesture of respect for all service members past and present, Staff Sgt. TIm Chambers (Ret.) has held a 4 hour salute for the duration of the Rolling Thunder demonstration in Washington, D.C. for the last 15 years. This year was unique in that he was joined by his wife. They held their wedding ceremony on the very curb he salutes from the day of Rolling Thunder.

Along with the above quote, video is from 2016
