Also came with a few reprints stuffed inside the bag, TM 9-1005-223-12 and a nice article for avoiding slam fire published some time ago by Wayne Faatz and NRA publication "From the Bench" written by S. Duff and John Miller for obtaining zero.
Here you can see where I ditched the plastic stock and added a nylon sling that I picked up a while back.
Stock is dry, almost new but has had a rifle mounted in it. It has a nice DOD stamp and firing proof and a couple of light dings in the butt stock however.
    Magazine is obviously 50% short.
Soon Ill try it out and probably get back into shooting a little more often and glad I bought it, it'll give me something to stay busy with.

Nice! I rotate an XTR II on mine as well! (But with the M1A I’m a sucker for iron sights)

I have a mildot Leupold scope with target knobs Ill dust off one day but for know I'm just going to enjoy the simplicity of it for awhile.
Hopefully the branch goes down some and my range drys out from a mud hole so I don't have to flop around in the mud just to get it out.
Ill do it anyway in a few days, should have had one years ago.

This morning, 5 shots prone w/sling, iron sights, on the MR52 target. The high 10 was called, I own that one!

What distance was that? And what ammo?

I was shooting at 100yds some 150gr Wolf this morning with my police surplus M1A Scout in a Troy chassis. Scope was a Japanese-made 3-9x PFI, which is pretty awesome other than the reticle not having the center line at 100yds (I mean, it makes SENSE, but it's not intuitive). Couldn't really hold better than 3-4" with it, which is I guess not unexpected, but a little underwhelming. So I am interested in how you're managing those groups.

ETA: my K-T RFB wearing a 10x PFI was outshooting it. Not by much, but by enough. Of course, the RFB had a newer 24" barrel, which I'm sure helped.

My guess...shooting reloads or quality manufactured match grade 175 gr or 168 gr ammunition from 100 yds from a match rifle that is glass bedded.

3-4" with wolf ammo and a service grade rifle is about what you can expect.

Shoot some 175 gr or 168 gr Federal Gold Medal Match and see if you're groups improve. My bet, they'll probably cut in half.

    BTW...great shooting dist1646 :)

Yeah, I'll suck it up and reload some 308 one of these days... see if I can't cut those groups down. I agree that it's probably mostly ammo, but I think I also need to check the barrel tensioning system. Apparently you can torque it too far and cause accuracy problems. I'd be annoyed, but I got the whole system for like $200, so a bit of sweat equity seems in order. Realistically, it's never gonna be a sub-MOA rifle, but if I can get it to 2" with decent ammo, I'll be happy.

I had not shot this one in a while so, it needed to get some love. It was shot on the MR52 target (600yd reduced) at 200yds. Prone w/sling, iron sights. LC 70 match brass, H4895 and 168gr Sierras. The rifle was built for me by Charlie Maloney. Now you know why I recommend his work!

You don't get a distinguished # for not knowing how to do your part,
Lots of folks can flop a rifle on the bench or use another means of support and (gasp):indiffere a scope!
Nice shooting and rigging on the sling.
