Just thought I'd mention that I mailed my Collector Status paperwork in March this year. Hadnt heard anything so I emailed Corporal Cusimano about two weeks ago. Everyone on here said they got quick replies from him. I recieved a computerized reply stating that due to computer issues I wouldnt be getting a fast reply and it had another persons email address to contact. I figured I would ride it out and see what happens. Well today I got an email saying his computer is still down and "Also due to current manpower issues I will be tasked with higher priority issues and will not be able to process collector applications at this time".

Anyone else get anything like that?

Just like I said in my previous post................ It'll only get worse before it get's better.

I got the exact same email this morning after sending him an inquiry yesterday. I mailed my application during the first week in march along with my C&R application. I now have the C&R, but this email is the first I have heard about my collector status...looks like we might be in for a long wait.

To my knowledge and according to everything I have read, there is no fee...I certainly didn't send any money with mine.

If maryland would strike down the 30 day law, then this would all be mute.

Maryland passed the law, and should play by their own regulations :sad20:

So you received that letter, too. That situation is a big clusterfluck and AGC should back off as Cusimano is one of just two decent people we have to deal with in MSP Licensing (as if we need to make more enemies:sad20:). This "Designated Collector" status is not funded and those applying for it are not charged for it by the State, so well enough should be let alone. If one is interested in obtaining the "collector" status, get in the system first with a regulated purchase then file for the status.

With the difficult economic times we're in, the State is in just as bad of shape, if not worse, based on the lowered tax base (reduced amount of employed people paying taxes) and paying out unemployment benefits to an increased amount of working people becoming unemployed. You may ask, "Why does this statement have any bearing on the thread topic?" The answer is as another retires out of "MSP Licensing and Firearms Registration Unit", that person's vacancy is almost certainly not going to be filled with another person; it'll remain vacant.:sad20: It could be possible that we may see an increase in fees and additional fees imposed along with a greater amount of time to accomplish a given task performed my that unit. These people at the firearms unit are getting hammered alot of the times with the amount of work to be done within the timeframe guidelines. If the economy doesn't get better soon, I can see this situation only becoming worse. I get pissed from time to time at MSP licensing, but I can, in most cases, understand their situation.

If MD really wants to reduce unnecessary expenditures, they could save about $5M a year by getting rid of the spent shell casing requirement and the overhead to run a database that has yet to solve a crime . A better source of revenue would be a shall-issue application .

I'm not sure of the $ amount you quoted, but your post is solely based on common sense. If "common sense" existed and was practiced in the political arena, instead of the funded bogus specialty programs that do little to nothing to improve the State as a whole, the economic picture wouldn't be so dismal. But then again, when did Socialism (Liberalism) equate common sense?

I mailed mine in middle if may and no response yet. I'm not in a hurry but I would def like to have it. Just in case an amazing deal presents itself and I'm stuck in that window in which I can't buy a gun because of the 30 days

If I remember correctly, Cpl Cusimano stated he collected app and processed them the second week of the month,, so if yours went in after the second week cutoff then you have to wait until the next round. BUT if AGC pissed off MSP then who knows,, kind of sounds like that happened:sad20:

Not so. The young lady I mentioned that was told she must first purchase 2 firearms had completed a purchase just a couple of weeks prior to mailing the application.

That was the email I posted in another DC thread. The MSP collect the applications for the entire month and then give them to Cpl. Cusimano at the beginning of the next month so he can start logging and processing them. So for example all of Mays applications are logged and processed June 1-14th according to Cpl. Cusimano. His computer was down for 3 weeks but he is almost caught completely back up from what I have heard in emails from him.

He is working hard to catch everything back up. If you want proof of that I mailed my application in on June 14th and they probably received it on June 16th. I was told to email him Friday morning as he should have all of the early to mid June apps logged. I should have my DC status on Friday the 24th or Monday the 27th, both of which are within the 14 days.

The letters are just a long time behind. That is the fault of the Licensing Division or Records Diviosions Commanders for not assigning anyone to help Cpl. Cusimano as he does the entire DC process by himself for all applications. :sad20:

If you turned in your application before June 1, 2011 I would email him because most likely you are already approved but he just hasn't had time to complete the letters.
