I saw some semiauto shotguns that had a device installed that caused the gun to extract the hull, but not eject it. This was at a trap range and I realized it would be great to not have to run around and pick up ejected hulls from my Remington 1100. Does anyone know what this thing was and if they make one for the 1100? I didn't get close enough to the shooter to see how the thing was installed on his Beretta shotgun.
    thanks.

They make a shell catcher for your 1100.
    It’s pretty ugly though.

Has anyone ever just disabled their autoloader? Seems like taking a few pieces out of the gas system or the interia spring in a Benelli would work?

Of course it's only good for singles.

Maybe some issues with getting the hull out by manually pulling the bolt back?

T&S shellcatcher. They have them for most semi auto shotgun models. My daughter has it in her Beretta A400 Excel and it works great.

T&S is the best shell catcher for the Remington 1100. I have used one from back in the '70's. They used to be made of spring steel but the latest one I bought is made of plastic. The Birtchwood Casey model works on the shotguns that T&S does not make one for. The Beretta 400 comes to mind and Tristar Sporting come to mind.

I have this. It double sided tapes to the gun. The wire part that does the catching can be flipped out of the way or removed. It isn't exactly pretty, but it does work most of the time.

That looks a lot like the thing I saw on the guy's shotgun. I'll look up the T&S model also. I'm going to get back into trap before I have to go overseas for work and it would be great to not have to pick up all the ejected shells but instead just pull it out of the shotgun and place into my shell bag.

I forget the name of the 'shell catcher' that I bought for my 1100 years ago, but, it works perfectly.

I remember seeing them again, at shotgunworld forum a while back.

When I'm not at work, I'll try to find the name and vendor.

They weren't expensive, and does NOT harm the finish of the shotgun.
